Youth Opportunities

Maryland Multicultural Youth Centers in Silver Spring offer the Youth Employment and Academic Readiness (YEAR) program, which provides training and job opportunities, job readiness training, and one-on-one career counseling. Job Corps offers an academic, vocational, and social skills training program for low-income youth-ages 16-24 who are motivated to learn the skills and work ethic they need to start and sustain their careers. Job Corps operates 119 primarily residential centers nationwide, including the Woodland Job Corps Center in Laurel, Maryland and Woodstock Job Corps Center in Woodstock, Maryland. Students receive living allowances, free health care, and other benefits by participating in the program. Ninety percent of Maryland Job Corps graduates get jobs or enroll in higher education.
