MCPL offers you many resources right from your computer. 

Your keys to access are your Montgomery County Library card number and your PIN.  If you have difficulty gaining access, see our Troubleshooting hints, but if you suspect a problem with your account number or PIN, please call Ask-a-Librarian at 240-777-0001.

	E-Books - Download books to read on your computer, e-book device, or smartphone. Audiobooks - Download audiobooks to listen to on your computer or MP3 player or to burn to CD.
	Music - Download MP3s from Freegal Music or listen to Music Online's streaming classical music, jazz, blues, folk music, world music, and more, as well as spoken word performances.
	Video - Watch streaming theatrical performances or children's picturebook classics.
	Articles from Magazines and Newspapers -  To locate a particular magazine, journal, or newspaper by title, use our A-Z Magazine and Newspaper Locator.
	Articles from Reference Books - See our Research a Topic page.  Among those available are Gale Virtual Reference Library, World Book Online, Oxford African American Studies Center,  Oxford Islamic Studies Online, and many, many more.
	For Children - MCPL's subscription online resources specifically for children.
	Language Learning - Free online courses from Mango Languages plus downloadable audio courses.
	Test Preparation - For academics, admissions, licensing, and careers.  Includes college information.

You will find catalog records for many titles in our E-Library collection from the following services:

• Gale Virtual Reference Library
• Opposing Viewpoints

   Gray chain-link icons appear on these records both on the hit lists and on the details screens.  These chain-link icons are hotlinks, and if you click on them, you will get to the resource.  In addition, at the bottom of the Catalog Record Tab from the Details screen, you'll see "Connect to this resource online.”  The link also will take you into the service and often to the exact record, but you may have to log in first.
 
ELIBRARY is the branch listed as holding these things.  The call numbers are things like E-AUDIO; E-BOOK, and E-RESOURCE .  The “Location” field says DOWNLOAD.  We wanted to use an “action” word in that field, so you would know the items are available for use on your computer.  But it is a bit confusing, because not all of these resources can be downloaded to your computer or to portable devices.  Some must be used online.
