Language Learning Tools from MCPL

Access to these services requires a library card from Montgomery County Public Libraries and a PIN.  If you have access problems, please call Ask-a-Librarian at 240-777-0001.

Online language courses, emphasizing conversational skills. Covers more than 60 languages, plus English courses for speakers of 17 languages.

If you want the software to keep track of your progress, you should set up a user name and password in Mango.  It is not required that you do so, however.

Troubleshooting

Mango Mobile for Apple products.  To use it, first log in to the Mango website, linked above, with your library card number, and then create your Mango account.

Mango Languages has apps for Apple devices and for Android devices.  To use the app, first log in to the Mango website with your library card number, and create your Mango account. Then download the app to your device.

Interactive language learning for children.  Teaches 8 languages, including English, with animation and games.

Downloadable Audio

Both of our downloadable audiobook services--Maryland Digital eLibrary/Overdrive and OneClickDigital Audio--offer some language learning titles. 


MCPL also circulates language-learning compact discs, audiotapes, and books from our branches.

Language Learning Videos from Annenberg Foundation's Learner.org

These multi-part video courses have been shown on public television and provide excellent language instruction.
